Never mind the World Cup Final…how do the attractions of Berlin stack up against Buenos Aires?
10 July 2014
The World Cup reaches its exciting climax on Sunday 13th July – sadly – but perhaps predictably – without England playing any part. Lots of us will still be tuning in to watch established footballing giants Germany and Argentina go head to head to see who can snatch the much-coveted Jules Rimet trophy. It will be a fascinating match that recreates two previous World Cup Finals in 1986 and 1990 (won by Argentina and Germany respectively). If the well-oiled German side do triumph, they will make history as the first ever European side to win a World Cup on Latin American soil. Both sides have consistently accurate goalscorers in their arsenal as Germany’s Thomas Muller (he’s scored 5 goals this tournament) faces up to Argentina’s much-feted Lionel Messi who has found the back of the net 4 times in this campaign.
But enough of this footie talk! As travel insurance providers, we are also interested in what Argentina and Germany have got to offer as tourist attractions in their own right.
We have decided to put the capital cities of both countries head to head in terms of the top tourist attractions on Trip Advisor and see which capital comes up trumps. Buenos Aires is sometimes known as the “Paris of South America” because of its European feel due to its elegant architecture, delicious cuisine, great shopping and fantastic nightlife.
Berlin is an exciting blend of old and new, as it combines a rich history with more modern innovations and attractions.
To see how both stacked up, we number-crunched the review ratings for the Top 5 attractions on Trip Advisor, with 5 points awarded for “excellent” down to 1 point for “terrible” and added these totals together to get a magic figure to separate the two attractions.
So, in terms of tourist-satisfaction levels, Buenos Aires is the clear winner with 4 attractions coming out on top. Reading about all of these fantastic and eclectic attractions brings home exactly how many great attractions each of these fantastic and vibrant cities has to offer – and if the armchair-viewer satisfaction levels are anywhere near as good on Sunday, then we are all in for a treat!
