To promote the release of “Hidden Gems Travel Tales” on Amazon, we have planned a FREE download weekend for the 5^th and 6^th October.  At other times it will cost a mere 77p, which is great value for 49 unique travel tales – with all income donated to the fantastic charity The British Red Cross.

When we, at Go Walkabout Travel Insurance, launched our very first travel writing competition, we could not have dared to hope for the fantastic response that we received.  It was a daily treat to open up the latest entry submissions and be transported away from the sterile confines of the offices to a multitude of exotic and enticing locations, and experiences around the globe.  In fact, to the very places and experiences that our customers who trust us to provide them with their essential travel insurance, might be enjoying at this very moment! In fact, we enjoyed reading the entries so much, that the idea of this book was born…

The theme of our competition was “Hidden Gems” and we invited travellers to share a piece of writing that shone a revelatory light onto hitherto lesser-known places, destinations or experiences – as well as introducing us to characters encountered along the way..  We were pleasantly overwhelmed by the fantastic quality of writing that was received, and also the sheer variety of the destinations that were described in evocative and enticing detail.

It was extremely hard to whittle the entries down to our 10 finalists, and then to select our three worthy winners, and we are grateful to the panel of expert travel bloggers who assisted us in this unenviable task.

We have compiled not only the winning entries, but also the majority of all entries received, into this unique and wonderful collection of travel tales based on personal experiences and recommendations.  It is called Hidden Gems Travel Tales and is available to download now on Amazon.  What better way to gain an authentic and individual insight into destinations around the world? An added bonus is that all income from download sales – and it costs just 77p to download – will be donated to the British Red Cross.

Perhaps one or some of the tales in the anthology will inspire you to make your own adventure, and create your own memories of somewhere special and memorable.  This book can be a great starting point for researching where you might like to travel to, the different destinations that you may enjoy visiting in a particular area and signposting some fantastic experiences that you too could enjoy.  It is ideal holiday or travel reading material, or it can equally be enjoyed curled up in front of a roaring fire on a bitter Winter’s evening.
